Presidency Message

To my dear sisters of the Granger Stake (we are all sisters and I love it!),

When I was little, a favorite game I liked to play was following behind my Dad and walking in his footsteps.  I remember having to jump from footprint to footprint because his steps were so far apart.  I would pretend that there were alligators or snakes or some other grave danger lurking everywhere except in his footsteps.  But in his steps I was completely safe.  Funny, all these years later I still remember how safe I felt staying in his footsteps.

I remember having a FHE lesson on example. My parents told us kids that if we saw them doing something, we could do it.  If we heard them say something we could say it, or drink, eat or smoke it.  What we saw them do we could do.  I never saw or heard my parents do or say anything inappropriate and I saw and heard many things I need to do.

The theme this year, Stand Ye In Holy Places, is a reminder for each of us to be an example to the rest of the world of what a true Daughter of God is like.  Each of us has a Father who is a perfect example of what we need to do.  If we are ever confused, sad or life just seems scary, all we need to do is walk in the safe zone, in His footsteps, and none of the alligators, snakes or grave dangers can hurt us.  It is there where we will find the answers to all our prayers, hopes and dreams.  He has the only footsteps that can lead us home.

I want you all to know that I have a testimony of this gospel.  I know that we have a Father in Heaven who wants us to come home to Him.  I know His son, Jesus Christ, chose to live a perfect life for us, then chose to die for us and was resurrected so we could return to our Heavenly home.  I know Joseph Smith was the prophet who restored the Church in these later days.  I know the Book of Mormon is a true and inspired book.  I am a witness of the blessings studying that book can bring.  I know that as we live worthy we can receive the many blessings of the temple. I know we have a prophet of God, President Monson, living on the earth today guiding this Church under the direction of Jesus Christ.  I know I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and knows me.

Growing up whenever I went on a date or out with friends my Dad would always say as I left, “remember who you are and what it stands for.”  It is my prayer that we will always remember who we are and what it stands for.  In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen
